5/5

For the next 20 yrs or so, when ever I see, 5/5, I will think of the yeah show. Ivan and I spent many hours on it for about 2 months. Not as much as the performers maybe, but a lot of time. Originally Ivan and I had decided to invite some close friends to come to the show with us. Maybe 10 people or less. But the list kept growing.

In the first batch we bought 18 tickets, in the second batch we bought 26 tickets, in the third batch we bought 14 tickets. Most of the friend we knew personally. But some of them were friends of friends. Christian friends were asking friends, and non Christian friends were also asking friends.

Ivan and I spent a lot of time emailing people, having lunch with people, meeting new people, collecting money, and generally organizing things. Did your eyes read “collecting money” twice? It was kind of an awkward thing. People would say, “come on guys, you’re not that desperate for the $10 are you?” Well we’re not really. But we do have about 60 people going, and if half of them decide not to pay, we would need to prepay $300. It was a very good thing that we made an effort to collect the money first. It meant that we were not hurt by those people that didn’t turn up to the show.

In total about 11 people ditched us before the show. The rate of ditching increased exponentially as we approached the night of the show. We were able to replace 5 of them in total. Ivan and I were frantically calling people on the afternoon of 5/5. I called a few people and Ivan called a few. I even called one that was asleep in HK. I didn’t know she went to HK hahahaha.

The show was very entertaining. I did enjoy it. Though there was less “Christian” content in the comedy than I expected. I wonder how our non Christian friends felt. I’m sure they had a big laugh, but I’m not sure they went home knowing what really Christians believed in.

For those of you that have not already heard, my friend that was sitting next to me went down to the stage to take her first step over the line. From hearing about it, to living it. The journey ahead is hard but it is going to be spectacular because she has chosen to follow Christ. I really pray that God will lead her and guide her.

Another friend also went down to the stage with Ivan. Though I think she had very little idea what was going on. I hope that her going down to the stage indicates that she is at least willing to find out about God’s Love. Love was the message that they kept repeating.

I think this has been a great experience for me. I know that God is training me for some thing ahead. The show gave me reason to contact people. It gave me a topic to talk about to strangers. It gave us an opportunity to gather our friends together to see a bit of Christianity together.

Ivan has been a great friend and brother in Christ. We have disagreements, but we have 100 times more agreements. The disagreements do not hinder us, but we pass them safely and our friendship is made even stronger. I am so glad to work with Ivan on this. God has put us together to fight for Him.

I would like to thank those people who came with me and Ivan. We would really like to share our joy in Christ with you. So I thank you for giving us the small opportunity to do so. I would also like to thank those who ditched us. You keep my mind on earth, where things are not perfect. I know that it was a big step for you already to say yes to us and to hand over the $10 haha.

For those of us that have Christ’s love in us, let us not stop proclaiming the Good News.

You know, I thought 5/5 was "Five out of five". LOL!

One would never know the amount of effort that went into inviting your friends had you not shared that.

It seems like you are being prepared for something noble and righteous.

Would be interesting to see how God is using you five years from now ... and for that, we won't know until five years from now, huh? :)
