Avoiding religion
Politics and Religion are topics to avoid at work.
My boss, two other colleagues and I were having dinner in a noise restaurant in Newcastle, UK. One of the colleagues was new to the team. He had just joined our company and his first day on the job was in England.
After ordering dinner, he asked me what my hobbies were. I didn't really have any hobbies (sad). I love watching movies. But I don't think that's a hobby. In the end, I told him that I did evangelism. He was quite surprised and almost thought that I was joking. The rest of the night turned into a night about religion. hehehehe...
The colleague who had asked me the question was a member of the Bahá'í Faith. I knew nothing about the faith. He was really friendly and explained in detail all the questions I had asked. From what I gather, their faith consists of a god, and all the other religions actually worship this same god, unknowingly.
The other colleague believe seemed to believe that religion and the church is bent on controlling people's minds. Earlier in the week, this colleague and I were on the same flight to the UK. During the flight, I somehow managed to talk to him about religion (I don’t remember how). I found out that he had recently finished “The Da Vinci Code”. That novel has an evil and devious way of twisting the facts, and turning people against Christianity.
My boss contributed also. He said that he is fine the way he is now. He did not need religion, and he did not need any gods.
As for Jot, he remained mostly silent, gathering information, and preparing for the new mission he had been presented with.
You can avoid politics? Can you avoid God?
