The Better things in Life
Our office is recently in an expansionary phase and as a result, we needed more floor space in order to cope with the increased work load. In the renovation period, my colleague and I had to be relocated temporarily. My colleague was rather unfortunate as her temporary desk was what used to be our portable rectangular lunch table that could seat four people (two-pairs facing each other). I was more lucky. My temporary desk in fact had more working space than my previous desk, so although I had to forgo my window view, I was more comfortable in a way, being able to space out all my work over a larger area.
Our boss, knowing that we may not be too happy about this temporary arrangement, promised that once the renovations are completed, our desks would be much better. I believe that my boss would have no problems convincing my colleague because any desk would have been better the one she had been temporarily allocated. However, realising that I have been given a larger table in the transition period, my boss constantly reminds me not to be attached to my new workstation and that I'll be moving into a room where it will be far more spacious than the workstation where I am sitting in.
Like the situation that my colleague was in, I believe it would not be hard to convince a person who lives in a not-so-good situation to be with God, who has promised that there is a better place for living that has yet to come. On the other hand, when we have the tastes of the luxuries of this world, we could often be satisfied with the things before us and forget the better things that God has promised us, which will come in the future. Like the situation that I was in, we often have to be reminded that the world we are living in is only our temporary place of residence, and that we do not attach ourselves so much to it that makes us forget the truly better things in life that are awaiting us.

Lay Up Treasures in Heaven - Matthew 6:19-24 (ESV)
19"Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, 20but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. 22
"The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light, 23but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness! 24"No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.
