A Devotional Corner

A friend of mine is really shy. She feels embarassed when we talk about God. In fact, I think she is afraid of talking about anything to do with God. We were at dinner the other day and we started talking about JW the cult. Two sentences later she excused herself. Not the first time she's done it.

Some people do not like to talk about God. Even though they acknowledge that God does exist and is the creator and ruler of everything. I am reminded of a homeless friend at shum. He catholic and goes to mass every sunday. Whenever we try to bring up the topic of God, he would declare that he will not talk to us about religion. Every week we would try, and every week he would refuse to talk.

How do you help them? If they read the bible, then maybe they will realise. But under what conditions will they read it? If they refuse to listen, there is no way to tell them. So show them?

We all have to make decisions about investing the resources that we are given. For us, resources ultimately points to Time, and Time is our greatest resource.
I think everyone we know invests most of their time into making a living. We use the years of our youth learning, and spend most of our adulthood earning. Then when we are old we hope that there is some sort of return from our investments of time? hmmm well not every one.
But one thing is true. If we invest our Time into earthly things, we will surely gain earthly returns. Sounds as if you shouldn't waste time on earthly things? That’s impossible. We have to invest time into learning and earning and using.
Investing in heavenly things will then give heavenly returns. Everyone has seen that investing time into earthly things will give you earthly returns. I think I invested time into my degree so that I could get a job and get money. Has anyone seen the returns from investing in heavenly things? Has anyone on earth and alive seen the rewards that they have accumulated in heaven?
I guess it is hard then to invest in something and not have previously seen anyone get returns on it. BUT it shouldn't be hard. I know for certain that there are returns. Because, the returns are guaranteed by the one who grants guarantees worthiness.
Now if someone told you that if you leave $10000 with them, they will give you $10000billion in 60yrs time, would you do it? Or if they tell you to give them $10 a week ... We know that if we invest in heavenly things we will get something worth far more than $10000billion.
How do you invest in heavenly things? Everything you do, do it for Him. Everything you do for Him, do it with Love.
