What's so special about the number seven, one my ask. What does seven mean? How important is the number?
The book of Genesis suggest that God had in mind that right from the beginning, seven is some important number. In Gensis 2:3, "He blessed the seventh day and set it apart as a special day ...". In Psalms 119:164, it reads "Seven times each day I thank you."
Of course, we cannot forget the famous line where Peter asks Jesus whether forgiving a brother seven times is sufficient, and Jesus replies "No, not seven times, ... but seventy times seven." (Matthew 18:21-22).
It's suprising how after we understand the conveniences of the metric system, we have never successfully, in any time in human history, managed to suggest a replacement for our seven day week.
While we should not distort the big picture by seeking to find justifications for every little detail in the bible, does the number seven have a significant representation in any way?
